THINGS TEACHERS RANT ABOUT THAT MAKE SENSE IN THE WORKING WORLD

School can be such a deep valley of training because at every level, you are dealing with a teacher ranting over the same things. Things like time keeping, submission of assignments, communication, consistency etc. As a student these aspects can be so annoying and at some point make one feel as though they are a waste of time. However, until one has a job interview and arrives at the interview late, that’s when things begin to make sense.

Here is a list of things that lecturers or teachers rant about that make sense in the work environment.

Being organized.

This is not something a lecturer is going to teach you in a special class, it is something you get to learn on your own and master as you follow the school activities time table. When it comes to the work world, you better know how to save work in a folder because no one will wait for an hour waiting for you to deliver a document in a bunch of documents.

Keeping time:

Have you ever worked with someone who just doesn’t keep time? Well while the lecturer is ranting about time keeping, they are not just making life hard, they are simply telling you the world is full of busy people with busy schedules. No one has an hour or two waiting because they have other things to do and they are equally pressing. They could be client meetings, business meetings, when it comes to media, it’s a show, parents will tell you I have to pick my kids from school before they burn it down so time keeping is not a joking subject matter.

Taking notes:

Some students often believe that they grasp so much while in class therefore don’t need to take notes, besides google is such a life saver, well guess what in the work world, taking notes in meetings is very important and Google is neither your boss nor your client. Google will only guide you on how to do what you want to do but Google is not your client or your boss so as a student, practice taking notes like a ritual.

Dress code:

As young people we tend to think that what matters is what the brain got. Well,  if COVID 19 has not taught you that lesson yet, you need one more term in school. No one needs your brains in the middle of a pandemic like COVID 19. The most important dress code in 2019 was a mask and PPE for the medical Doctors. When your appearance is horrible, you may not get an opportunity even in business.

Accountability:

Teachers and lecturers often hold their students accountable for their actions, and this is equally important in the workplace. Taking responsibility for your actions and being accountable for your mistakes can help build trust and respect with your colleagues and supervisors.
