Written by on July 6, 2023

Meta has finally launched its project 92, Threads, an Instagram app. After several month of creating anticipation this app has received over 5 Million Sign ups in its fist 4 hours of bring opened.

The app is similar to Twitter and is widely viewed as Elon Musk’s Twitter competitor. The app has a very easy user interface, its easy to identify your followers, mentions and reactions or responses to posts.

Unlike twitter, threads app doesn’t show trends being the first day it has launched, perhaps it hasn’t gathered so much data to show some trends.

All in all, the early birds on the app are busy gathering as many followers as possible the memes of Twitter have followed to threads and it is interesting to note that Threads is trending on twitter.

What was meant to be a competition could be a marketing strategy for threads. Records are to be broken as people can’t wait to find out who will be the first to hit 1m Followers on threads.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, said in an interview with The Verge that Twitter’s “volatility” and “unpredictability” is what gave Meta the opportunity to compete with Twitter, which has been plagued by outages and unpopular limits to the number of tweets users can view in a single day.

Tweeps in Uganda quickly rushed to meet their fellas on threads and have stared building their relationship and conversations on threads as well.

This can be an opportunity for people who didn’t make it on twitter to thrive on threads and scoop a great deal of followers. This is also an opportunity for an anonymous celebrity to emerge just like Khaby.
