TWITTER GLITCHES CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMPETITION TO EMERGE & THRIVE
Written by Edith Ahurira on July 3, 2023
What seemed a twitter glitch revealed a lot of gaps for competition to thrive. Saturday shocked Twitter users when their feed couldn’t show more posts.
This shock was followed by an announcement by Elon Musk on twitter saying that accounts have been limited to how many posts can be seen in a day.
Verified account holders can peruse a maximum of 6,000 posts daily, while unverified users must contend with a limit of 600 posts. Newly registered, unverified users face even tighter restrictions with an allowance of a mere 300 posts per day.
This number was later increased to 8,000 posts daily for the verified accounts, 800 posts for the unverified and 400, for the new unverified accounts.
Musk revealed that Twitter has been wrestling with extreme levels of data scraping from several organizations and system manipulation he further explained that the new measures are meant to cub the pressing issues.
This seems like one of the several glitches twitter has had over the past months and this particular one seemed to have more impact as it is revealed that Meta will be launching the twitter competitor in Mid-July.
Twitter’s decisions are most likely to create a gap for competition to thrive and realistically people are ready to transition to any possible better option.
