COMMON TRAITS BETWEEN KENYANS & THE BAKIGA NATION

Written by on June 5, 2023

When one says that “I am a Mukiga” the first thing that runs through people’s minds is “tough, rough arrogant” Its kind of the same thing that happens when one says “I am a Kenyan”

While to some extent these perceptions may be true, Bakiga and Kenyans were cut from the same piece of cloth.

Both Bakiga and Kenyans are straight forward. If you get an opportunity to interact with any of them be bold and straight forward about what you need. Whereas a Mukiga might touch the pocket and get you the 10k, a Kenyan might first ask when they are getting it back even when they don’t have it.

They both are hardworking. If you took time to visit Kabale, you might think you are in Nairobi except the difference is Nairobi is a more developed City but the agility in both regions is the same.  If you gave a task to a Mukiga or a Kenyan you just need to wait for accomplished work. It will be done.

When it comes to good vibes these people just speak the same language. This is self-explanatory especially if you took time to go to the Bakiga Nation Last Saturday. It was good vibes all the way. One would think it was one of those Optoblaster parties by NRG Radio.

People often say that Bakiga are arrogant but the reality is they will spit out pretense when they see it. Kenyans are not any different. In fact, when it comes to Kenyans that will be end of business unlike Bakiga who will spit it out until you change.

They both don’t like the jazz of supremacy. They both believe that every human being can be great if given chance. When it comes to Kenyans however, they push you to get your grind going from scratch. No one will give you capital unlike the Bakiga who will assist you with a little capital but will still push you to make it work. The Bakiga will give you capital accompanied with a bunch of words that will challenge you to get on your two feet to prove yourself. Because of that, they are often termed as arrogant.

According to these nations, Respect is for those that give it to themselves. No man can claim respect unless they act in such a way that they deserve respect. But also, anyone who disrespects people in these two communities is often disliked. In order to interact with them, you have to respect people regardless of your status or gender.

If a Kenyan and a Mukiga were arguing and you came in between them to settle the dispute, your goal must be to settle the dispute not to point out who is wrong or right. Picking a side is a sign of disrespect, the two will put aside their differences and put you in your place and then resume to settle their disputes.

All in all, these people are not rough tough or arrogant as they say, they just see life from a Black and white spectrum. Say what you want to say and mean it.
