FLYING HIGH: UGANDAN TEENAGERS GEAR UP FOR THE VEX WORLD ROBOTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE US

A group of teenagers under the Young Engineers Uganda were flown to the US to participate in the Vex World Robotics Championships in Dallas Texus.

The team of four girls and three boys together with their instructors had secured fourth position in Africa during the Pan African  Robotics competition 2022 in Dakar Senegal. It is from this that they earned an invitation to participate in the Vex World Robotic Championship in the United States.

The competition will officially commence tomorrow and has young people from over 50 countries and over 2,200 teams participating from all over the world.

The championship has a number of International brands sponsoring including Google, Nasa, Tesla, America’s Navy, US Army, the US Air Force called the Special Warfare Kettering University, MathWorks Texas Instruments and others.

This competition will be testing students’ skills, Qualification, skill matches & skill practice. The competition will go on till Friday 4th of May

A Total of 20 Awards to be won by the teams that exhibit excellent skills at each given level and task.

The students that were selected to take part in this world-wide competition have been through rigorous training in an organization called “Young Engineers Uganda” which was founded by a journalist Arineitwe Rugyendo the co-founder of the Red Pepper tabloid.

Young Engineers Uganda is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education program of the African School of Innovations Science and Technology (ASIST) Ltd that uses a robotics and LEGO curriculum, coordinated in over 60 countries worldwide and is endorsed by the European Commission of the European Union.

This is such a big platform for Ugandan teenagers interested in science to exhibit their knowledge and also receive exposure from students from other countries.
