MCDONALDS ANNOUNCES EMPLOYEE LAYOFFS AS PART OF NEW BUSINESS RESTRUCTURING PLAN

McDonalds, a multi-billion dollar fast food giant, has temporarily closed its US offices due to staff layoff plans. Although it is not yet known how many of them will be laid off, the business will continue to work with employees on a much wider restructure for the rest of this week.

The company aske its staff to work from home from Monday to Wednesday. According to some reports, The Internal email said, “During the week , we will communicate the decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization”

The staff were instructed to cancel any personal meetings and other functions planned for this week at the corporate headquarters. The fast food franchise had revealed in January that it would evaluate the amount of its corporate staff as part of a new business plan. This assessment would lead to job losses in some parts of the franchise and growth in others.

McDonalds is not the only company that has considered laying off employees in such a drastic way since the end of COVID 19. Many companies have laid of staff in a bid to change the business strategy.

Each of them has had their reasons for laying off staff however, it is becoming monotonous for big organizations to lay off employees with an aim of revising and improving the business strategy.

McDonalds is expected to start announcing its decisions by Monday.
