UGANDA CRANES TRIUMPHANT OVER TAIFA STARS

Uganda Cranes defeated Tanzania’s Taifa Stars 1-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam thanks to a late goal from Rogers Mato.
The Uganda Cranes went into Tuesday’s game full of anger and a thirst for revenge as Tanzania was triumphant over them just a few days earlier.
Mulitin Sredojevic made four changes and selected an eleven that was more attack-minded than the one he used in the previous game, which the Cranes lost 1-0, four days earlier in Ismailia. However, until late in the game it was the Taifa Stars who produced more goal opportunities.
With their first victory in Group F, Uganda’s Cranes are now tied for second place with Taifa Stars on four points, one point behind already qualified Algeria, and two points ahead of bottom-place Niger.
In June, Uganda will play Algeria at home before finishing the qualifiers on the road against Niger to try and secure a spot in next year’s AFCON.
