From Street Light to Bright Future: Vice President Alupo Grants Full Scholarship to Inspiring Young Scholar

Last week when an image of a young boy studying under the streetlights went viral on social media, every one commended the him for prioritizing his education. Most stories that pop up on the internet come and go but this one gets a happy ending.

Over the Easter break, while visiting her constituency of Katakwi, Vice President Jessica Alupo sent her team to find the boy, later to be identified as Otengei Emmanuel, a pupil from Township Primary School in Katakwi.

Otengei who is currently in his primary four told the Vice President about his aspirations to become an electrical engineer. Vice President Alupo was so taken by the boy’s aspirations and his determination that she offered him a full scholarship. This means that the Vice President will pay for the child’s education through his university education.
