JOHN WICK CHAPTER 4 REVIEW : BEST IN THE FRANCHISE

Written by on March 24, 2023

The John Wick franchise has revived the action movie genre as the movie is continuously praised for its practical effects and stunts. Each movie keeps pushing the barrier of what we thought was possible practically and the fourth installment in the franchise does not disappoint.

After director Chad Stahelski announced that the first cut of the movie was too long, this had many fans worried as they have waited for the sequel to Parabellum for years. Luckily enough, the final cut was just perfect as Chapter 4 brought in the best reviews in the franchise as of yet. Currently sitting with a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes which is an improvement on John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’s score of 88%.

As the price on his head rises, renowned hitman, John Wick expands the scope of his battle with the High Table by looking for the most influential criminals in cities like New York, Paris, Japan, and Berlin.

The fourth installment of the John Wick movie confirms its status as one of the best action series ever. Really, that’s all I have to say. With this new film, Chad Stahelski, and Keanu Reeves have really surpassed themselves.

Additionally, it’s the ideal tribute for actor Lance Reddick, who sadly passed away last week. He was a fan-favorite character, and his portrayal of Charon will sincerely be missed. The movie also introduces fantastic new additions to the franchise portrayed by Donnie Yen and Hiroyuki Sanada, both of whose characters and swordsmanship steal the show whenever they’re on screen.

John Wick is not wearing any plot armor in this film, despite the fact that he is still a one-man killing machine who already has a kill count of over 400 people at this point.  The stakes are high and the action has gravity and weight so you’ll always be afraid for John and worry about whether he’ll endure his next ordeal.

The movie is 2 hours and 49 minutes lengthy, but I was never bored or felt like it was going on for too long.
